When it comes to famous individuals within the cigar industry, there are few that are more well known than Rocky Patel. Originally a Hollywood lawyer to such illustrious names as Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rocky was intrigued by the cigars that these celebrities smoked. The rest as they say is history, as Rocky started his own cigar company and has built himself an immense portfolio of different cigars (many of which are unavailable here!).

We have two stunning new releases to sample at this event, the brand new Rocky Patel White Label Robusto (rrp £22.75). This breathtaking new release features premium aged tobaccos blended together to produce a medium-bodied, ultra-classy cigar. The packaging (the box and the label etc) is none too shabby too - everything about this release smacks of class, simple as that!

Our second cigar will be Rocky Patel Disciple Toro (rrp £21.95). Made in Nicaragua using the finest estate-grown Nicaraguan binder and long-fillers, covered by a gorgeous, oily, and dark San Andrés wrapper from Mexico. This is a medium-to-full bodied smoke, with rich, complex flavours of wood, earth, coffee, hints of black pepper, and plenty of natural tobacco sweetness. This is already in my top 3 cigars for this year.

I expect this evening to sell out, so I would recommend booking early. The evening, which is priced at £35 per person, will be held at the TRENT NAVIGATION INN, 17 Meadow Lane, Nottingham, NG2 3HS and will start at 7 pm sharp. The venue will be open before the event starts so you can always arrive a little earlier and get yourself a drink and or a bite to eat if you wish.

For our July cigar event, we focus on the Cigars of Cuba. Blessed by the perfect growing conditions for tobacco in the perfect climate, Cuba has a long history of cigar production stretching back almost 200 years. Over this period there have been several revolutions and periods of great hardship, but the lifeblood of the people shines through in the products that they make.

We are still in the process of finalising which cigars will be on show on the night, however, I can reveal who we will have in attendance on the night. First off, it will be a great pleasure to welcome back Tim Owen from Hunters & Frankua. Many of you who are regulars to our cigar evenings will know Tim well for his knowledgable and relaxed presentations.

We also welcome, for the first time, Jose Diaz, the Habanos SA representative and Corporate Director for the UK. Habanos SA is responsible for the production, distribution and marketing of Habanos cigars worldwide and Jose is responsible for the UK. This will be a great opportunity to ask a multitude of questions about the Cuban cigar industry and Cuba in general. It is not often that we get this opportunity, so best make hay whilst the sun shines!

The featured Cigars for this event will be the Vegueros Centrofinos (rrp £23.70) and the Montecristo Linea 1935 Dumas (rrp £39.40). A stunning lineup I am sure that you will agree. The evening will start at 7pm on the 13th of July and will be held at the Trent Navigation, Meadow Lane, Nottingham.
