Ladies Only Cigar Evening
Mighty oaks from little acorns grow and so it seems to go with our near-legendary cigar evenings. We first started doing the evenings about 5 years ago and initially, our numbers were minuscule. I always remember the second cigar evening that we did at Saltwater. There was me, Juan Cabello from Gift international who supplied the cigars, three rather bright-eyed and bushy-tailed customers keen to learn about them... and a waiter! I remember the evening being dark, blustery and quite cold (it was November) but everyone seemed to have a great time and the cigars showed really well too. I never imagined whilst sitting there on that freezing November night that in the future we would have attendances of between 30 & 40 customers on a very regular basis at each tasting. Even on nights such as that bitter November evening, turnout is always high so it just goes to show what a hardy bunch the Nottingham cigar cognoscenti are! The evenings are not only educational but also very sociable and many a long-lasting friendship has been struck because of them. By the way, the three customers that I mentioned earlier still come along intermittently to the evenings but are maybe not so bright-eyed or bushy-tailed anymore, a bit like me!
Although our evenings are very successful and the highlight of every Nottinghamshire based cigar smokers social calendar, very few ladies attend. In the course of my working week in the store, I see and speak to a large number of ladies who smoke cigars (which is fantastic) but no matter how hard I try to convince them I just can't seem to get many to join us at the tastings. In an effort to redress this and to encourage more ladies along to our regular cigar evenings we are going to trial a LADIES ONLY CIGAR NIGHT. Yes ladies, no guys apart from me! The evening is about you enjoying an evening of cigars at your own pace in the company of likeminded ladies.
The format for the evening will be quite relaxed and informal. Each paying guest will have two cigars to enjoy during the evening, one a slightly lighter more delicate style to get warmed up with and the other with more intensity and body. We will give you a little info about each cigar but in all honesty, it is all about tasting them and enjoying them and enjoying the company that you are in. If you do have any questions we will, of course, endeavour to answer them, but we want you to have fun and enjoy yourselves.
The evening will be held at Alto in the Cornerhouse in Nottingham City Centre and will commence at 7pm and expect to finish around 10pm'ish. I look forward to seeing you there.
