Managers Top 3 Cigars 2019
That's right folks, here are my top 3 cigars for this year - not based on any specific criteria in particular apart from being absolutely awesome smokes.
Ramon Allones Specially Selected
A cigar that brings back fond memories of my trip to Cuba earlier this year. A very powerful cigar, with a complex range of flavours throughout. It begins with roasted and slightly woody and leathery undertones with floral hints, leading into slightly sweet cocoa & coffee ending. Not for the beginner but ideal for the experienced smoker after a heavy meal.
Balmoral Anejo XO Gran Perfecto FT
Tried at our last cigar evening of 2019 and voted the best cigar on the night by the attendees. It was so good that it knocked the spots off the Andalusian Bull (former cigar of the year) which was totally unexpected. XO stands for 'Extra Old', so each meticulously crafted and aged Balmoral Anejo XO 5 x 60 Gran Perfecto FT cigar is crowned with a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper that is aged on average for 10 years and finished with a flag tail. After blending the cigar it rests for another 6 months in the ageing rooms of the San Pedro de Macoris factory in the Dominican Republic to marry all its flavours together. Only one word required to describe this though, perfecto!
Partagas Anejados Corona Gorda
I keep going back to these wonderful cigars as they are simply stunning. If you are a fan of Partagas you will absolutely adore these as they are incredibly complex and silky! Although they full flavoured, the ageing brings out more of the subtleties, like honey, nuts and just a hint of straw. These are a great early evening smoke.
