Cuba is a country which is seemingly lost in time and permanently stuck in 1962. Many of the methods used in this very poor country for agriculture, farming and even cigar production are extremely antiquated by today's standards which, given the political situation over the last half century, is understandable. The world around Cuba has advanced tremendously over those last 60 years or so,with the other major cigar producing countries, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic and Honduras all employing modern, high-tech methods of cigar production to ensure that each cigar is perfect every time. Cuba however, even using very 'traditional' old fashioned methods of production can still produce stunning cigars of exceptional quality, all made by hand and to the highest possible standard.

Cuba is still, quite rightly,regarded as the world's best cigar producing country and recently, with what appears to be a thawing in relations between the US and Cuba, it looks like the market is going to open up for them in a dramatic way too. Although it is early days yet to see how things develop, it appears likely that in the long term, there is a possibility that the trade embargo may be lifted. It is difficult to guess what may happen when it does get lifted, but one thing is certain, world wide demand will increase and quite possibly prices too!

With all the positive press that Cuba seems to be getting lately I thought it would be a great time to lend a bit of focus on Cuban cigars and it is at this time of year that we see the remaining new releases too. And as if this were not enough, we will be hosting a Cuban Cigar evening on October 14th where our focus will be on the new vitolas.
