Hine Cognac

The House Of Hine can trace their Cognac making history all the way back to 1763 when James Delamaine started to produce a cognac in the picturesque little commune of Jarnac. As time progressed he managed to build a reasonably successful business, exporting across the world including England. In 1791 a young Thomas Hine ventured all the way from his home in Dorset and went to Jarnac to learn all about his father's beloved favourite drink, Cognac. Bearing in mind that this time period was during the French revolution, it is fair to say his timing was questionable, as he soon found himself imprisoned! Thankfully the story ends well as he soon struck up a relationship with Françoise-Elisabeth Delamain, daughter of his 'host' and both were soon married. Finally in 1817 Thomas renamed the brand 'Hine' and the rest is history.
