The wrapper is Ecuadorian Connecticut, Binder is Mexican and the Filler is Nicaragua (Jalapa). Imagine Cohiba but about half the price.

Joya De Nicaragua Cinco De Cinco Toro (£27.80) - Mexican San Andres wrapper and Nicaraguan fillers and binders in a soft-pressed format. It is a five out of five in profile and complexity, full bodied and medium strength, with dark rich flavours that offer hints of cocoa and dark chocolate.

CAO Silencio Red (£25.60) - These medium-bodied cigars are an absolute joy to smoke, being richly flavoured, yet creamy and almost velvety in texture. The blend is an intriguing mix of tobaccos wrapped in a gorgeous Cameroon wrapper leaf. The filler tobaccos are from the Dominican Republic (where the cigar is made) and uses Piloto Cubano leaf, which is held together beautifully by the Jember binder from Indonesia.

The Robusto size of cigar is by far the most popular size sold in the UK. Measuring 5 inches by 50 ring gauge, the Robusto size not only looks good but is also easy to hold. With a smoke time of roughly 45 minutes, these cigars are just about right in every category.

La Invicta Honduran Robusto - Light Bodied A very easy-going, medium-bodied smoke at a cracking price. Great value when compared to many European brands at the same kind of price.

Flor De Nicaragua Robusto - Medium Bodied This is a great value for money cigar - nice and earthy with some gorgeous nutty notes - this has a little bit of spice on the final third and goes great with coffee.

La Aurora Principe Claro Robusto - Medium Bodied They have a very gentle spice to them which lifts the palate somewhat. These represent great value when compared to other brands at a similar price.

Quorum Shade Robusto - Light to Medium Bodied A more recent extension to the Quorum range that uses a shade grown Connecticut wrapper which adds a gentle spiciness to the ensemble. An ideal cigar for a beginner as it is not too full-bodied.

Juliany Maduro Robusto - Medium Bodied Made using the finest aged tobaccos, these relatively inexpensive cigars offer a medium-weight smoke that have a touch of earthiness to them.

The overturned. This is what ‘La Volcada’ directly translates to, although that’s not exactly what this cigar is about. The term ‘La Volcada’ comes from a step in the tango dance that originated in Uruguay where Litto Gomez grew up and this cigar celebrates his Uruguayan heritage.

This is the third instalment in an unofficial series of small batch cigars released by La Flor Domincana; the first being La Nox and the second the Andalusian Bull. An oily San Andres wrapper covers an Ecuadorian Corojo binder and filler from the Dominican Republic. After quite a long wait we have finally managed to source some of the highly acclaimed Red Dot robustos. These medium-bodied cigars are an absolute joy to smoke, being richly flavoured, yet creamy and almost velvety in texture. The blend is an intriguing mix of tobaccos wrapped in a gorgeous Cameroon wrapper leaf. The filler tobaccos are from the Dominican Republic (where the cigar is made) and uses Piloto Cubano leaf, which is held together beautifully by the Jember binder from Indonesia.

In the States this is sold under a different name, a very famous Cuban name, and like that particular brand, is quite highly sought after. The sister cigar to this, the Silencio Black Supremo Toro, was in my own personal top 3 cigars for 2023!

dressed in an alluring dark skin and THREE bands, these new Montecristo's have been on the horizon for some time but have only just been released here. A rich and full bodied cigar which delivers immense flavours on the palate and length on the finish. All the tobaccos are sourced from Cuba's top growing areas in Vuelta Abajo Zone.

The Royal Coronas showcase powerful complexity and offer a full flavoured smoking experience. These are leathery and earthy and develop intensity as the smoke progresses, along with notes of chocolate and spicy liqourice. Awesome.

Released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Oscar making his own cigars. The dual wrapper has been used to striking effect in the particular instance (90% of the cigar is wrapped in a gorgeous, dark, Mexican San Andres Wrapper with the remainder wrapped in a Honduran Candela wrapper) - the cigar tastes as good as it looks too! Big and bold with a deep earthy, almost biscuity edge to it. Totally stunning!

This is one of those cigars which really is the real deal. Medium to full-bodied, it starts initially with a burst of sweet leather, spice and nuts and progressively moves towards coffee and earth as you smoke down the stick. There is good intensity in the flavours which persist until the last draw. I love the shape and the fact that it is box-pressed too - it just ticks all my boxes!
