Originally twist tobacco were used as an easy way to transport the tobaccos from Americas to the UK and Europe. The tobaccos are spun into a rope and can then be flavoured or left to be a natural smoke. Over the decades the use of twist has declined with the introduction of Flake and ultimately Shag/Ribbon cuts.
In this country Twist was popular throughout the coal fields and other mining areas and for those that spent 10 hours plus a day underground, a chewing tobacco was the only way of getting their nicotine hit. This tradition is still carried out today, even with the decline of the UK mining industry.
We carry 2 variations of the twist; Black & Brown. Each has its own unique flavour and smoking characteristics.
Brown Twist The Brown Twists come in a number of thickness, both pressed and un-pressed. The tobacco leaf used is Virginia, both Fire & Flue cured. This results in a very strong smoke, packed full of earthy almost cigar like flavours. The thicker brown twists also come in a range of sweet and spicy flavours (Rum, Vanilla, Cherry & Cinnamon).

Black Twists These start out life as the humble Brown Twist but it is then heated, steamed and slowly cooled to produce a slightly lighter smoke with a subtly sweet edge. It however still produces the same cool & smooth smoke produced by its cousin (Brown Twist)
