Cigar Evenings 2024
Undoubtedly, some of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Gauntleys (social) calendar are our cigar evenings. Starting way back in 2012, our cigar evenings have grown steadily over the years and now cater for 50-plus people on a good night. Run in a relaxed and informal way, you will be guaranteed to have a great evening! Each event is structurally the same, however, the cigars and brands featured will change every month. There will nearly always be a guest host who will join us on the night to talk us through their cigars and occasionally we have a cigar maker join us too. Over the years we have been delighted to have been joined by the likes of Rocky Patel, Nick Perdomo, Robert Caldwell and E P Carrillo to name but a few and all of whom have been very entertaining in their own, unique way.
The evenings are educational, so you can ask as many questions as you want throughout the evening or, if you are inclined, you can just sit and enjoy the cigars as they are, the choice is yours. Did I mention that these evenings are quite social too? Many long and lasting friendships having been formed over the years purely down to the cigar evenings, so it makes it worthwhile just for that!
The dates for the 2024 Cigar Evening Calendar are below and are now set in stone, we will look to announce the 2025 dates early January!
Gauntleys Cigar Club Alec Bradley Cigar Evening - September 11th 2024 - Single
When it comes to famous cigar brands, Alec Bradley is certainly one of the more recognisable - founded in 1996 by Alan Rubin, the brand is named after his two sons Alec & Bradley. For much of the late 90's and noughties Alan struggled to keep his brand going due to the industry wide decline in cigar sales. Although sales were up and down Alan managed to keep the business afloat through sheer hard work and determination.
Things changed dramatically in 2011 when Alan won the Cigar Of The Year award for the Prensado Churchill. Winning the award helped cement Rubin as one of the pre-emanate cigar makers in the world, a status that he still has to this day. In 2022, Rubin sold Alec Bradley cigars to the Scandinavian Tobacco Group who are able to promote the brand to a wider audience.
Our event will feature two cigars from this iconic brand, Alec Bradley Project 40 Toro (rrp £24.65) and the Alec Bradley Black Market Esteli Toro (rrp £26.55), both of which are stunning cigars. We will be joined by Helen Groome from TOR Imports and Dave Wright from the brands owners, the Scandinavian Tobacco Group. We are back at the Trent Navigation on Meadow Lane for this one - the start time will be 7pm. We will also have a raffle where the lucky winners could be taking home a number of Alec Bradley related goodies!
We will be capping the numbers for this event, so please ensure that you have booked your spot as soon as you can.
