Cigar Evenings 2024
Undoubtedly, some of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Gauntleys (social) calendar are our cigar evenings. Starting way back in 2012, our cigar evenings have grown steadily over the years and now cater for 50-plus people on a good night. Run in a relaxed and informal way, you will be guaranteed to have a great evening! Each event is structurally the same, however, the cigars and brands featured will change every month. There will nearly always be a guest host who will join us on the night to talk us through their cigars and occasionally we have a cigar maker join us too. Over the years we have been delighted to have been joined by the likes of Rocky Patel, Nick Perdomo, Robert Caldwell and E P Carrillo to name but a few and all of whom have been very entertaining in their own, unique way.
The evenings are educational, so you can ask as many questions as you want throughout the evening or, if you are inclined, you can just sit and enjoy the cigars as they are, the choice is yours. Did I mention that these evenings are quite social too? Many long and lasting friendships having been formed over the years purely down to the cigar evenings, so it makes it worthwhile just for that!
The dates for the 2024 Cigar Evening Calendar are below and are now set in stone, we will look to announce the 2025 dates early January!
Gauntleys Cigar Club ++ Extra Cigar Evening featuring Gurkha Cigars - Wednesday July 31st ++ - Single
I am delighted to announce this extra additional cigar evening for the 2024 tasting calendar which will feature the cigars of Gurkha, one of the biggest brands around. Producing a wide variety of cigars in varied styles, the cigars never fail to amaze.
There will be two featured cigars on the night, Gurkha Kingdom Limited Edition (£34.12 each) and the Gurkha Cellar Especial Reserve 18 Yrs Koi (£15.95 each).We will be joined by Chris Smith of Barkers Of Harrogate who will give us a bit more info on the brand and the cigars. This will be our first event with Chris, who is looking forward to joining us!
The evening will be held at the Trent Navigation, Meadow Lane, Nottingham and will start at 7pm.

Gauntleys Cigar Club The Awesome Foursome Summer Special - Cigar Evening 28th August - Single
Back in January we held an experimental cigar evening which featured three of our lovely suppliers who joined us for an inter-brand challenge. This was quite possibly an industry first in the UK as pretty much any event in any retailer would be one event, one supplier. The evening was an astonishing success so much so, that we are going to repeat it.
The Awesome Foursome Summer Special will take place on Wednesday 28th of August and will feature cigars from FOUR different suppliers. In no particular order we will be sampling cigars from the following importers..
TOR Imports with Helen Groome
Bright Leaf UK with Phil Matthews
Davidoff UK with Anthony Roussou
and brand new supplier 1573 Cigars will be represented by George Frakes.
The evening is priced at £45 per person which entitles each paying guest 2 of the 4 cigars on show. The option to buy the others will be available later in the evening.
The full mechanics will be explained on the night, but the short version is, each supplier will have 3 minutes to tell the story of his or her brand or cigar - whose ever cigar proves to be the most popular in this first round of 'voting' will win the title of 'Top Cigar'.
Places for this event will be limited, so book now to avoid disappointment.
